Blaudruck is a resist-dye technique characterised by a white pattern on an indigo blue background, often featuring floral motives. The technique came to Europe along with the indigo plant with travelers of the Dutch East India Company and made it to South Africa where it was adopted by the locals and became a distinctive feature of traditional dress.
